The use of the digital product advisor is intended to make it easier for customers to select products from the more than 100,000 items in the range and guide them to their dream pushchair in just a few steps.

Thanks to targeted advice, choosing the right product is now child’s play

Ordering complex products such as prams online is often not that easy for (expectant) parents. Especially if they are not familiar with the product’s functionality in detail and a large selection is offered. babymarkt.de has recognised this problem and offers customers a digital product advisor on the topic of prams with the help of epoq’s Guided Selling Software. “Competent advice is also an important point for us online. So we provide our customers with all the important information on the topics of pregnancy, baby and child in our guide, our theme worlds and our social media channels. In addition, we want to support our customers in choosing the perfect first equipment, such as prams. With the pram advisor, we offer expert advice so that the baby adventure becomes a relaxed shopping experience for parents and families,” says Martina Dörges, Head of Online Sales at babymarkt.de. During the digital consultation, questions are asked that are easy to answer in order to determine the customer’s needs. With the help of pictures and graphics as well as info icons that explain individual terms in more detail, shop customers are guided step by step to a selection of suitable articles. The online product advisor reduces uncertainties on the part of the customer and conveys a feeling of security, which should ultimately lead to the right purchase decision and avoid returns.

The highlight is the results list

The online product advisor determines the customer’s needs, just like the salesperson in the stationary retail, and compares the functionality of the products with the customer’s preferences. Once a customer has answered all the questions, he or she receives a list of products that match his or her needs. The products in the result list are determined and displayed based on data (based on the clicks on the visual filters). In the process, the online shopper sees exactly which products include the desired features. To make product selection even easier, the results list is additionally adjusted to the preferences of the shop customers. For this purpose, the entire click-and-buy behaviour of all shop customers is taken into account for the display and the articles with the greatest relevance are shown first. In this way, customers can be specifically supported on the way to their dream pram. “The relevance of the products is decisive for a successful product selection. By showing the customer products that match and are relevant to their needs, the digital advisor enables targeted advice, similar to what customers know and appreciate from a good specialist salesperson,” says Thorsten Mühling, CEO of epoq. The list of results can then be further narrowed down using filters or sorted according to various criteria.
